At Thinker's Alchemy, we keep your additive manufacturing pipelines operational through transparent pricing, rigorous technical standards, and an uncompromising commitment to Right-to-Repair ethics. We operate like a trusted mechanic: every ad-hoc job begins with a clear diagnostic, an itemized quote, and explicit customer sign-off before billable repair work begins.
To provide the highest operational stability and lowest total cost of ownership, we offer Managed Fleet Service Contracts. Contract membership provides guaranteed response times, included preventative maintenance, waived dispatch fees, free wear-and-tear consumables, and discounted hourly labor rates compared to non-contract ad-hoc servicing.
We are setting up our physical location in Colorado right now! If you have any requests for filaments, printer parts, or tools that we should add to our inventory, please email support@thinkersalchemy.com

Contract Service Tier Overview
Each contract tier comes with 1 On-Site Preventative Maintenance visit per month. We waive all dispatch fees for these visits. Anything outside of this maintenance will be billed at the contract discount hourly rate of $80 instead of the standard $100.
• Fleet Surcharges & Baseline Rules:
◦ Base Coverage: Tiers cover up to 15 FFF printers across up to 7 physical locations within 50 miles of one another.
◦ Expanded Locations (8+): A flat $100/month logistical surcharge is applied per additional location beyond 7 or if greater than 50 miles apart.
◦ Onboarding Baseline Fee: A one-time baseline audit, deep-cleaning, and calibration fee equal to 1 month of your chosen tier rate per machine is charged at activation.
Contract Term Lengths & Loyalty Incentives
• 12-Month Commitment: Standard base pricing.
• 24-Month Commitment: Standard base pricing PLUS a 2-Year Price Lock (inflation protection) AND Onboarding Fee WAIVED.
• 36-Month Commitment: Standard base pricing PLUS a 3-Year Price Lock, Onboarding Fee WAIVED, AND 1 Free Major Hotend Rebuild per printer annually (parts and labor included).
Discounted Member Rates vs. Ad-Hoc Pricing

SLA & Resin (MSLA / DLP / SLA) Service Policy
While Thinker's Alchemy provides repair services for desktop resin (MSLA/SLA/DLP) 3D printers, these machines carry specialized operational requirements, strict environmental safety controls, and mandatory handling protocols that differ significantly from FFF/filament technology.
RESIN / SLA SAFETY NOTICE
Resin servicing requires hazardous chemical handling, toxic liquid decontamination, UV optical shielding, and dedicated ventilation. Labor rates and turnaround times reflect these safety requirements.
Why Resin Equipment Costs More to Service:
1. Chemical & Toxic Hazards: Uncured photopolymer resins present acute dermal, respiratory, and environmental hazards. Bench service requires full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), chemical neutralizers, solvent safety protocols, and certified hazardous chemical waste disposal.
2. Decontamination Requirements: Before mechanical or electrical repairs, the printer, resin vat, print platform, optical glass, and enclosure must undergo a rigorous multi-stage isopropyl alcohol (IPA) bath and ultrasonic cleaning cycle to prevent component contamination.
3. Optical & Thermal Alignment: SLA repairs require precise leveling of the UV light matrix, optical screen masking verification, optical grid uniformity testing, and leak-testing vat FEP films before full reassembly.
Resin (SLA) Pricing & Turnaround SLA
• Service Turnaround SLA: 6 to 10 Business Days (Standard FFF turnaround is 3 to 5 business days). Resin repairs take twice as long due to required cure-testing cycles, chemical bath dry times, and multi-stage seal testing.
• In-Shop SLA Diagnostic Fee: $120.00 Flat (Credited toward total labor if repair is authorized; reflects complete chemical breakdown and optical test).
• SLA Technical Labor Rate: $120.00 / hr (Standard Contract Member FFF rate is $80/hr; Ad-Hoc SLA rate is $135/hr).
• SLA Consumables & Disposal: FEP/PCF films, LCD masking screens, UV light arrays, and specialized chemical solvents are billed separately at cost.
• Contract Scope Exclusions: Resin printers are excluded from standard FFF Managed Service Contract tiers but can be serviced on an ad-hoc basis or under a custom negotiated resin addendum.
Operational Workflow & Service Level Guarantees
Repair Workflow Steps
1. Diagnostic Phase: Bring your printer to our shop or book an on-site dispatch. We perform a full bench diagnostic across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and firmware systems.
2. Written Itemized Quote: Within 1 business day of diagnostic completion, you receive an itemized quote detailing required labor hours and part costs. No work proceeds without written authorization.
3. Execution & Validation: Once approved, our technicians execute the repair, calibrate motion kinematics, run validation test prints, and log photos of the final output.

Repair vs. Replace Threshold
If an ad-hoc repair estimate exceeds 60% of a comparable new machine's retail price, we issue a written financial assessment advising whether replacement or upgrading is more economical than repair.
